A Chartered Insurance Practitioner, Reinsurance and Enterprise Risk Management Professional, Shri Chandrasekaran has several academic and professional qualifications which include, Advanced Accountancy, Cost Accounts, PGDM (from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies), Fellow of Insurance Institute of India (FIII), Associate Member of Institute of Risk Management (MIRM), London, Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), London and Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), Mumbai, Certificate in Computer Software from Mumbai University.
A distinguished veteran in the reinsurance industry Mr. Chandrasekaran Ramamurthy boasts of a career spanning over five decades. he is well-known for his innovation and path-breaking solutions. He has been Member of various expert committees of IRDAI and contributed significantly to critical Non-Life Insurance regulations. His career in India, UK and Middle East Insurance and Reinsurance markets has enabled him to gain a unique identity amongst the Reinsurance professionals.
His expertise in global reinsurance is further demonstrated by his decades of Career peaking at General Manager GIC Re followed by Senior DGM at Kuwait Re. He has held pivotal roles and served as a Government of India nominated Director on the Board of LIC of India. In his last assignment, he was the CEO of Himalayan Re, a Start-up Private Sector Nepal Reinsurer (2021-2023) Nepal.

He spearheaded and guided the professional team both at GIC Re (2004-2008), and Kuwait Re (2008-10) in obtaining "A Excellent" rating from AM Best: and recently (2023) succeeded in obtaining B+ stable rating in 2023 for Himalayan Re within the third year of operations.
His leadership extended to regulatory and industry bodies, and membership in IRDAI Regulation Sub- Committees and expert groups. During his 8-year tenure (2011-2019) as Secretary General of the General Insurance Council (Industry of Non-life and Reinsurance companies in India) he played a pivotal role in shaping the Indian Insurance and Reinsurance Legislations and Regulations.
With deep-rooted knowledge in Insurance and Reinsurance strategy management and Enterprise Risk Management, he has played a critical role in shaping policies and best practices across markets. Beyond his formal roles, Mr. Ramamurthy has mentored many insurance professionals offering strategic insights into risk assessment, reinsurance structuring, and regulatory frameworks. His enduring influence continues to inspire the next generation of industry leaders.
